Has your face lost vigor or attractiveness due to eye bags? Flaccid eyelids invading your field of vision? Do you want to rejuvenate your face with natural results? Blepharoplasty is the most demanded facial aesthetic surgery solution, fast and safe, with guaranteed results if performed by an ophthalmologist specialized in oculoplastic surgery.
Whatis blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to reshape the upper and lower eyelids. Its purpose is to reposition or remove eye bags or excess skin or fat.
Although still with a clear predominance among women, more and more men are demanding this type of operation.
When is blepharoplasty indicated?
This technique is especially indicated when skin or fatty tissue hangs over the eyelashes causing loss of peripheral vision.
It is also used for aesthetic purposes to achieve facial rejuvenation by eliminating palpebral redundancies.
What does the operation consist of?
Blepharoplasty is usually an outpatient surgery with local anesthesia and sedation in which the patient’s recovery is usually quick. It lasts approximately 1 to 2 hours. It is a safe and personalized procedure although it must be performed by ophthalmologists specialized in oculoplastic surgery.
Preoperative
Previously, an evaluation is carried out to rule out possible alterations that may contraindicate the operation and to establish the preoperative diagnosis. The type of intervention and the excess skin to be removed are defined.
Before the operation, the pockets are marked and then the incision is made.
Postoperative
After excision, the wound is closed with continuous suture or loose stitches and an ocular ointment is applied. The stitches are removed after 5 or 6 days.
Laser blepharoplasty
Currently there are simpler, less aggressive laser blepharoplasty techniques, with less visible results, better postoperative and faster recovery.
