Omiq promotes study on multifocal intraocular lenses

Vallès Oftalmologia Recerca (VOR), Clinical Research Unit of the OMIQ Institute of Medical and Surgical Ophthalmology, is carrying out a comparative study of different multifocal intraocular lenses , already on the market. Its objective is to learn more about their characteristics and which types of patients benefit the most from them.

The program on multifocal intraocular lenses will be carried out at the Omiq centers of the Hospital Universitari Sagrat Cor in Barcelona and the Hospital General de Catalunya in Sant Cugat del Vallès. Its duration will be 6 months.

People from 55 to 80 years of age with any degree of cataracts are eligible for the study. Omiq’s ophthalmic surgery specialists will visit and test participants free of charge to determine whether they meet the eligibility criteria to take part in the study and receive treatment.

Research through clinical trials

Participating in a clinical trial offers the opportunity to access the most innovative treatments with personalized attention from medical experts. In addition, the selected patients will not have to pay for the necessary assessment, lenses or follow-up care.

VOR is Omiq’s research unit, recognized by the European Vision Institut (EVI), which develops clinical studies to carry out innovative treatments within its specialty. In this way, the clinical-research binomial is fed back with the consequent improvement in health care. VOR is currently actively involved in numerous studies of Retina, Glaucoma, Ocular surface and cataract surgery as well as new intraocular lenses.
